Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade fortnight takes place between now and 12th March.

Fairtrade Fortnight

At Alexandra’s we specialise in thoughtfully produced clothing and so do support Fairtrade fortnight which is a great initiative to raise awareness.

There are many different initiatives for Fair trade and as a rough generalisation the above logo largely relates to the production of food products.

We are committed to Fair Trade and the environment, and stock suppliers who:

  • prevent the use of child labour
  • provide equality in the workplace
  • provide safe working conditions
  • improve education and training for workers
  • reduce CO2 emissions (e.g. locally sourced fabrics and ship by sea)
  • use AZO free dyes (non toxic dyes)
  • use organic cottons where possible

Thoughful Clothing – New In!

We are now proud stockists of a new label called ‘Thought’ which really is thoughtful clothing!  Thought clothing used to trade as Braintree and has carried over its great ethical credentials to the new brand name.Thoughful Clothing - New In!

Like any shop since we opened in 2010 our stock has changed  and evolved, the only constant being that we have done our best to maintain our standards – this is true with ‘thought’, it is simply a natural development of a great brand into a new name which reflects how they have simply evolved over recent seasons.

Our regulars will be pleased to know that their Bamboo stocks remain the same – just new packaging!

We really do love their new SS17 range of clothing and have picked our top five must have pieces!  They are:

  1. The Alfreda Denim Pinafore – this is a heavy denim totally stylish and practical pinafore dress (it also has a bit of stretch for a better fit!)

Thoughful Clothing - New In!

2. The Marcel Blouse which is a great white blouse with a greyblue spot (and looks fab under the pinafore!)

Thoughful Clothing - New In!

3. The  Zena Cardigan which is in shades of grey and a smart alternative to a jacket – beautiful soft cotton and wool mix.

Thoughful Clothing - New In!

4. The Fredrika Dress which is classic navy and white but has an amazing cut to flatter almost any shape!

5.     Sweater – which comes in two colourways with a flattering neckline and 3/4 length sleeves!
